AUDIO TAPES
HOW TO ORDER; return to Catalog Index page
Please Note:
The items listed in this catalog are
available only to those individuals who are visually impaired or
whose handicap prevents them from using normal print. Also note that items
marked with an asterisk (*) are not available for purchase. They are available
on loan from the library only.
Except for a few items, the materials
listed in this catalog are recorded in "Talking-Book" format. Talking-Books are
recorded at 1/2 normal speed and on each of the 4 tracks separately. This
permits the equivalent of 4 standard tapes to be recorded onto one Talking-Book
tape.
T-B tapes require a special tape player;
they will NOT play on a standard tape
player. See "Recommendation" below.
The Bahá'í Service for the
Blind does NOT provide or repair these players.
Recommendation:
The National Library Service/Regional Library Services are no longer providing
the special players mentioned above. The players are being replaced by a
special Digital Cartridge player. The NLS is no longer producing books on
cassette tape but only DTB (Digital Talking Books). The Baha'i Service for
the Blind is currently engaged in converting its cassette tapes into DTB but
this is a very long process. Unless you own a cassette player that will
play the 4-track tapes, we do not recommend that you PURCHASE tapes from our
catalog but only borrow them. We will sell them to you if you wish, but be
aware that you may have difficulty obtaining equipment to play these tapes in
the future.
Also many of our tapes can be listened to or downloaded on the web at:
